MG-Rover.org - From small acorns....

Setup in 2001 by our Managing Director, MG-Rover.org is the largest website for MG and Rover owners and enthusiasts on the Internet. With consistently around two million page views per month, the site is our busiest client. The website was developed using a forerunner of our content management system, combined with the powerful VBulletin forum software and an equally powerful online shop package.

Hosting a website like this takes a powerful server and our servers handle it with ease. We carefully selected and configured our servers to ensure fast response and the absolute best in server up times.

 

In a way this website set the ball rolling for UK Websystems, if you read the About Us page, you'll find out that UK Websystems was born out of a meeting I had as a result of a MG Rover dealer being interested in helping to grow MG-Rover.org. One thing lead to another and here we are, over 7 years down to road and a part time hobby has turned into a company hosting over 50 domains across 20+ clients.

MG-Rover.org is split into 4 main areas:

 

- This section is as the name suggests, its where the latest news is posted and where people can read more about the MG Range (both prior to 2005 and from the TF's relaunch in 2007). Its more of an information bank than anything else.

 

- The heart and soul of the website. This is by far the busiest section of the site getting well over 1.8 million page views a month alone. As with all forums, it allows members from all over the world to communicate with each other, share stories, jokes and most imporantly, get help for any problem they have with their car.

 

- The gallery contains tens of thousands of photos uploaded by the users on the forums. Again, such a site requires a lot of server resources to handle to quantities of data being uploaded and downloaded

 

- The online shop is provided in conjuction with XPart, part of the mega US Corporation Catepillar Logistics. Using a forerunner of the eShopsUK platform it supports multi-franchise, multi-lingual, multi-currency shops all sharing the same administration website. Read more about this in the ecommerce section.
