Client Profile - [ The Motorhouse ]

The history of Motorhouse can be dated back to the first of the huge car supermarket sites, on its Cannock site it opened the first car supermarket in the UK. The original founder of The Motorhouse, who is still involved today, has a simple plan for their Used Cars for Sale - to sell Used Cars and New Cars at the lowest Used Car Prices . Motorhouse wants you, the buying Public, to Buy a Car with the Car Value and Discount Prices thousands of customers have come to expect from their Car Sales.

Website Overview

The website replaced their old website which was in dire need of an overhaul. As with many old motortrade websites, the old used car system was poor in search engine spidering, resulting in poor rankings in the search engine. It was also badly designed as a used car search due to the fact there was no way to narrow down search results, ending up in people having to go through page after page of the most common cars to find ones they were interested in.

For example, if you were after a Diesel Focus, you'd have to page through page after page of Focuses having to check each one incase it was a Diesel - the end result was that people tended to look at the first page and then click off onto another site. So many dealer websites loose business this way.

The new website featured a first in the automotive sector; a search system which allows you to refine the search based on criteria you want. It is an extremely powerful system as it allows you to quickly remove cars you aren't interested in.

The website also includes the Latest News module, enabling them to update the news articles themselves at any time through the online administration system. This also includes the eCarsUK network feed, which means that they benefit from the general motoring news which is automatically added by UK Websystems. This enables their website to have regular news updates shown on the site without them having to do anything themselves, reducing the overhead of updating the website.

The list of used cars is sourced directly from their Dealer Management system. The stock list is updated 6 times a day with photos being processed 4 times a day. Uploading a photo into the eCarsUK system is as simple as emailing it to a specific email address! The system then matches it to the car in the system automatically, thus reducing the hours of time of resizing images and uploading them one by one to the old website, the new system allows them to update the site in minutes, rather than hours.

Although the data is sourced from their DMS, the administration website also allows them access to the vehicle data and manually update the information.
