Bespoke Website Development
Bespoke website production can be either from your
specification or one that we draw up together, either way, we use industry
standard tools such as Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and
technologies such as the PHP scripting language, the hugely popular, powerful
and stable database engine, mySQL and the industry standard Apache Web server
all running on the best web server platform - Linux. However, having the best
technology and tools to use is no use if the craftsmen don't know how to use them!

How do you change a design on paper into a website?
After sitting down with you and gaining a good understanding of your needs, UK
Websystems will provide you with the options available. Obviously with bespoke
work, there are always a few different ways of doing things, and based on what
will get the best results on your budget, an agreement will be made. Then as
with the majority of website development companies the first stage is to create
the layout in Adobe Photoshop. Once both parties are happy with the graphical
look of the site, it's then handed over to our web development team who chops
up the graphic into separate images and converts the graphic image into a
website layout, while carefully optimising the resulting graphics for load time
vs quality. As I'm sure you've found, websites in the past that take ages to
download (even over broadband in the worst cases) tend to be ignored - the
reason the majority of the time? - The designers omitted the very last step -
optimisation.
All the websites we produce are designed to be
completely downloaded in under 8 secs, even on 56k dial up. Anything over 8
secs and the visitor to the website tends to click the stop button, mutter
under his/her breath about slow websites and move on to another site (perhaps
a
competitor?). The site itself is then created on a secure online location,
where you have access to view it, and make any comments should anything need
fine tuned. Upon completion, there is a full handover meeting, where all
features and functions are presented and any training can be given.
